I knew I was going to throw up before it happened.
I felt the pressure in my stomach as I tried to breathe evenly.
But it kept on building.
You pulled the car over so I could puke in the road.
I knew even as I was eating the lasagna that it didn’t taste right.
The pressure built up again just as we pulled into the driveway.
But I couldn’t wait.
I puked into my hand, to save the car.
I cried so hard, shaking, apologizing.
I was so scared of getting the car dirty.
You looked at me blankly.
And in that moment I knew nothing would ever change.
