Reflective Writing Workshop Offerings
Your Questions,
Answered
How do the workshops work?Generally we’ll start with some warm-up exercises. We might then look at a piece of poetry, fiction, non-fiction or even a quote and respond to it or I’ll provide a prompt. Each exercise will be timed after which there will be time for reflection and discussion (sharing is optional). I will be there to offer encouragement and thoughtful responses. We’ll have a 5 minute break every half hour.
Do you need to have writing experience? No writing experience necessary. These workshops are perfect for people who have never written anything other than a grocery list all the way to seasoned authors. The focus will be on the feelings, emotions and sensations the writing evokes, not grammar, spelling or form. It won’t be like school - promise!
What can I expect in a reflective writing workshop?clear instructions
gentle prompts to explore
safe, trauma-informed environment
time for reflection
opportunity to share
What is the structure of the workshops?Every workshop is different but this is the rough structure that I follow: we will begin with some short warm-up exercises to loosen the writing muscles then move towards a larger writing piece before we gently finish off. There will be reflection time in between each exercise.
Who are reflective writing workshops for? They are for any adults 18+ who are interested in using writing for personal growth and self-discovery.
Will I be forced to share?Nope! While I believe sharing is part of where the magic happens you will not be put on the spot at any point. If you choose to share you can share your writing or what came up for you as a result.

Reflective Writing Workshops to Explore Immigrant Identity
The immigrant experience is a unique one. My reflective writing workshop to explore immigrant identity takes a gentle approach helping participants examine intersecting identities, code switching and cross-cultural ties.
Possible themes:
definitions of ‘home’
third culture identity
similarities and differences between birthplace and current location
Reflective Writing Workshops for Childfree/
Childless Women
Living in a pro-natalist society, a woman’s value is often defined by her family life. It’s hard to figure out how to live life on your own terms. As a woman without children, I wanted to create a strengths-based reflective writing workshop to help women like me reflect on what a good life means to them.
Possible themes:
meaning-making in life
alternative family systems
ageing without children
Reflective Writing Workshops for Neurodivergent Adults
My reflective writing workshops for neurodivergent adults focuses specifically on late-diagnosed adults. I completed my Master’s dissertation on helping late-diagnosed ADHD women determine their access needs through zine-making and feel passionately about this work.
Possible themes:
grief around late diagnosis
“NOW that makes sense…”
access needs
“The pace was just right, the structure was great and I loved the focus and prompts and opportunity to be in breakout rooms”
